Summer Oasis is a seven to eight week, full day (7:00 - 6:00) summer program run by the Extended Day Program. Our flexible enrollment allows children to be enrolled for as little as 1 hour a day or as much time as you need. Approximately 120 children in grades PK - 8 attend daily. Summer Oasis is dedicated to supporting the development of positive self-esteem in children. Summer Oasis is contracted separately from the school year program. Sports & Games
This is a chance for kids to get active at Oasis. A wide variety of games are offered both outdoors and in our gyms.
Mud Pies is an activity where children have the chance to explore the world around them. Choices may involve taking trips in the community, science experiments, exploring nature, water play, and much more.
The Media Room is a place for campers to have some rest and relaxation time. There are video games to play on our computers, playstation, or Wii. Kids are also encouraged to bring books or card games to sit and relax with a friend.
At Oasis, P.R.I.D.E. means Perseverance, Resilience, Inspiration, Determination, and Enthusiasm. During this time, we offer multi-age group specialty club activities. Kids get to choose which club they wish to participate in for the week. Some specialty clubs might include drama, music, sports skills, cooking, fort building, and environmental explorations.
After lunch, all campers have an opportunity to mingle with different age groups and pursue individual interests in an indoor kid-defined play time. During Commons, campers can invite campers from other Islands to "visit" their Island home. They also have an opportunity to play board games, or 'hang out' with friends in the main Oasis area. Opportunities exist for individual reading and using personal electronics. Commons also provides a "slow-down" time in the middle of the day to help children learn to develop a healthy rhythm to the activities in their day.
During Event Day activity times, counselors will offer special theme related activities for the full camp. Event Days provide a unique opportunity for children, siblings, and friends of different age groups to take part in activities together. When weather allows our fabulous waterslide will be available - so bring your swim suit.
Excursions & Field Trips
On Excursion days campers will have an opportunity to sign up for a special excursion in the afternoon. Campers can choose Bowling or Arcade at Pinz or climbing fun at Pump it Up in Franklin. Excursions leave at 11:30 and return at 3:00. On site activities will be available for those campers who prefer not to go on the excursion trips.
Field Trips leave Oasis at 10:00 and return between 3:00 and 4:00 (unless otherwise noted on the calendar). Field trips are optional (although the option of staying on-site will only be available if numbers and staff ratios allow). Campers going on field trips must be at camp at 9:00. Activities will be offered on site for those campers who do not go on the field trip (if there is a sufficient number staying behind to warrant offering this option).
Campers must wear a gray Oasis/Extended Day shirt for every Excursion & Field Trip.
