S. Wilder Building

At East Holliston corner stands a reminder of Holliston’s early industrial history. The S. Wilder Building, now occupied by the Wilder Shop, was once the site of a copper pump manufacturer bearing the name S. Wilder. Although the building itself was erected in 1837, the copper pump manufacturer would not occupy the site until two years later. Since the latter half of the twentieth century, the Wilder Shop has resided in the building, specializing in the retail sales of copper-made objects. This particular photograph is representational of the history of the S. Wilder Building because of the copper lanterns and weathervanes that adorn its façade as well as the presence of the building’s year of establishment.
