Holliston PTO Presents:  SCREENAGERS, Growing Up in the Digital Age

The Holliston PTO will be hosting a screening of the very popular movie “Screenagers.” Do you wonder how tech time impacts kids development? Is there friction in your home over screen time?  "Screenagers" is a documentary that attempts to answer these questions and more and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

After the movie there will be a panel of experts available for discussion and questions. The panelists are Darlene Vittori-Marsell, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Laurel Watt-Aldredge, Licensed Psychologist and John Powers, Middle School Guidance Counselor.

Wednesday February 15th, 2017, from 7pm – 9pm  (Snow date Thursday February 16th, 2017, from 7pm – 9pm).

Parent Education Evening on Mindfulness - November 29 at 7:00 p.m.

posted Nov 22, 2016, 12:31 PM by Holliston Public Schools   [ updated Nov 22, 2016, 12:37 PM ]

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are pleased to invite you to attend a Parent Education Evening on the topic of Mindfulness. Secular mindfulness strategies are increasingly being used in education and other fields to support positive well-being by focusing on the present moment and acknowledging one's thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental way. Research studies support that Mindfulness has positive impacts on the brain, relationships, and physical and mental health.

Educators in Holliston are beginning to learn how to use some of these techniques and the benefits in the classroom. We would like to extend this learning to interested parents.

Please come to a Parent Education Evening on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 7:00-8:00 PM in the Miller Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room if you are interested in learning more about Mindfulness. The presentation is tailored toward parents of elementary students, however middle school and high school parents are certainly welcome as well.
