Lesson: The Lighthouse
Material: Pencils, rulers, drawing paper, oil pastel and. tempera paint and brushes,
Students were asked to create a full and detailed landscape painting of a lighthouse on the edge of a body of water. Students viewed images of lighthouses and discussed the various proposes and designs of lighthouses. Students then created preliminary sketches of their ideas. Triangle and rectangle geometric shapes were used in the creation of the lighthouse organic shapes were used in creating the natural environment. Students placed their lighthouse in theforeground of their work and added detail in the middle ground and background which illustrated the environment, time of day and weather conditions in their work. UNITY was created in the art by repeating colors, shapes and patterns.
