Shelby is a fourth grader at the Miller school and is very interested and active in art. This lesson involved using water soluble oil pastels to create a paint like quality. Students developed a better understanding regarding the blending and mixing of colors. These water soluble oil pastels are first used to draw and then water is added to turn them into paint. Students need to be aware of color and how it mixes. If the colors that are blended don’t really mix well adding the water gives the picture a muddy look. Understanding the color wheel assists students in making choices that they know will look well together. Shelby is very serious about her art. She pays attention to detail and knows what she wants.
