Why Do Routine COVID Safety Checks Work?

  1. Keep Kids and Staff Safe: catch cases before they spread to other students and staff

  2. Keep our Schools Open: prevent further time away from in-person learning and friends by knowing whether it's COVID, cold, or flu

  3. Stop the Spread: prevent infecting another member of your household or community

Dear Families, Caregivers, and Staff,

It has been wonderful to see staff and students return to school this week. Below in HSGN, you will find a link to some pictures of staff and students as they arrived at school this week. The buildings are bubbling over with enthusiasm again, and, despite wearing masks, school is looking much closer to years past, with more opportunities for students to engage in authentic learning.

Next week, we will be sharing updated links to COVID resources and Test & Stay Protocols once we get more information from DESE, and we will begin to collect COVID vaccination information as we prepare for future changes to school district safety protocols. Stay tuned for these updates.

The Town of Ashland in collaboration with Mass Bay Community College will be holding a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on September 14, 2021 from 1pm - 4pm..The clinic will be held at Mass Bay Community College at 270 Eliot Street, Ashland.  This clinic is available for anyone 12 years old and up.

They will also be allowing walk-ins to this clinic but are encouraging people to sign up in advance.

Here is the link to sign up for an appointment.   https://tinyurl.com/AshlandVAX

This clinic is open to the general public and is free for anyone that may not have insurance.

At this clinic they will be offering first or second doses of Pfizer or first dose of Johnson and Johnson.  People will have a choice of what vaccine they want. We will not be offering BOOSTERS at this time at this clinic. If anyone has any questions please call 508-532-7988.

Also, we are still looking to hire substitutes for the district, and student safety liaisons to help with Placentino dismissals, as well as essential volunteers to help with lunches at RAMS. If you know of anyone interested, please have them reach out to school administration.

Holliston Schools Good News:

  • Pictured below on the left you will see our central leadership team sporting our new district- themed shirts picturing, Building Bridges Together @Holliston Public Schools. All staff should have received a shirt this week to wear to show school spirit as an HPS Community together today. Thank you so much to our Town-wide PTO for helping us to purchase these for staff. You may recognize our graphic design of Holliston’s own Eight Arches Bridge pictured on the right. The arches of the bridge overarch the work we will do this year related to our strategic initiatives PreK-12+ and embedding our work on SEL & Equity this year. Also see some of our awesome HPS  pictures from opening days linked here. Enjoy!

With enthusiasm,

Susan Kustka, Ed.D.

Superintendent
